Beauty comes with a heavy price, everybody knows that. Some individuals can go to shocking lengths to remain youthful and beautiful. You must have heard of spa treatments like heated stones on your back or aromatherapy or detox massage.  You might have even tried some of them on your vacation. However, these are not the only spa treatments that exist today.

In reality, there are some very weird and unusual spa treatments out there in the world. What is even surprising is that there are people willing to pay for these weird spa treatments. Here is a list of six peculiar spa treatments:

Snake Massage
A good massage takes out all the kinks from your body. It is the best way to unwind and relax after a tough project or a grueling assignment. But, did you know some individuals prefer a snake massage over a normal massage from a massage therapist? In an Israel-based spa, snakes are placed on customers’ backs. According to the spa, this treatment relieves sore muscles and even gets rid of persistent migraines. The snake massage will cost you $80.

A pedicure from fishes
This pedicure originates from Turkey. You place your feet in a pool of water where the fish species Garra rufa and Cyprinion macrostomum swim around. These fishes will eat the dead skin from your feet. According to the spa owners, this treatment is best for individuals suffering from skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. Due to lack of research, this pedicure is banned in several states in North America.

Get coated with gold
Facial treatments involve many natural ingredients. However, have you ever heard of gold serum being used in a facial? In Mexico, a spa named Santa fee claims that 24-karat gold serum has remarkable anti-aging properties. This facial costs $275 and only people who tried it can say whether it is worth every penny spent or not.

An ice room instead of a sauna
Most of us prefer a sauna because we believe that sweating is the best way to get rid of the toxics in our bodies. A spa at Caesar’s Palace located in Las Vegas believes just the opposite. You can relax in a mild 55-degree room with mint-infused air circulating in the room. You can catch the snowflakes falling from the ceiling.

Using cream that has snail slime to improve your skin
BB cream, also referred to as blemish balm has grown in popularity in Southeast Asian countries like South Korea, China and Japan. According to experts, one active ingredient used in this cream is snail slime. The slime contains elastin and glycolic acid which is good for the skin. It also protects the skin from ultraviolet rays and bacteria.

Bath in Evian water
Evian water is associated with celebrities because it is an expensive brand of bottled water. Now for a whopping $1000, you can bathe in this mineral water. This spa treatment is available at Palm Beach in Florida.

These spa treatments might sound over-the-top and disgusting, but many users agree with their benefits. Maybe one day, these spa treatments just might become as common as aromatherapy!
