Health Danger from the Food You Eat Everyday

Food, considered the main source of energy for the human body, provides essential nutrient reserves that are important for the healthy functioning of your system. Despite this, food processing methods have an effect on the nutritive value of food and can even pose certain health risks to consumers. The best foods are said to be consumed raw, while the worst happen to be foods that are commercially canned, fried and processed foods with additives. Starvation and obesity can both cause health dangers but so does eating unhealthy foods.

Processed Foods
A stroll down your grocery aisle will reveal delights wrapped in colors and graphics that will tempt your taste buds. But these processed foods, although convenient, undergo freezing, dehydration and aseptic processing along with addition of a whole list of chemical ingredients to color, stabilize, bleach, preserve, flavor and hide odors. Not only do processed foods lack energy but also pose a plethora of health risks such as obesity, heart diseases, cancers diabetes and hyper tension. The food additives added to preserve food and increase shelf life are not at all safe for you and are known to cause health risks such as headaches, nausea, weakness and even nerve damage.

Another important concern in processed and fast foods is the presence of food dyes which are synthetic in nature and have been regarded by FDA as causing health dangers. These food dyes have been come to be associated with allergies, hyperactivity, learning impairment, irritability, aggressiveness and even cancer. Processed and fast foods thus lack in nutrient value and as well as natural enzymes for assisting in bodily functions.

Genetically Modified Foods
With advancements in technology, crops and animals have been genetically modified to be less susceptible to pests, contain extra nutrients and grow quickly. But the fact is these genetic engineering techniques may toxically affect several organs and systems. Health risks such asaccelerated aging, immune dysfunction, insulin disorders, organ damage and reproductive disruption are seen as side effects of genetic foods.

Organic Foods
Organic foods seem to be the buzzword these days because apparently they are produced without using most conventional pesticides, fertilizers made from synthetic ingredients or bioengineering. Organic food is claimed to be safer and nutritious than pesticides or hormone injected food. But some concerns have erupted regarding the health risks posed by organically produced food. Botanical pesticides are used instead which are organic and natural such as sulfur sprays which can have a toxic impact on the human body. Organic farm animals may still have traditional parasites that can cause infections in the body. Molds on animal feed can release mycotoxins that maybe passed to the final product such as cow’s milk and pose as health dangers.

Therefore, the food you eat everyday has a deep impact on your health. Try to steer away from unhealthy foods that are rich in fats and sugars rather than an optimum balance of essential nutrients required by the human body.
