Shopping online can be not only a great time saver, but also a big money saver. Knowing how to shop for certain products, like beauty supplies, can work in your favor by saving you from running around as well as saving you some dollars. However, buying beauty supplies online can be a little tricky, so here are some tips to help you save your valuable money and time, not waste it.
Shop at a reputable site
You have a tremendous variety of sources to shop from online; choose one with a good reputation. Whether you know from its name, its reviews, or a friend’s referral, learn something about the site you shop from before you purchase.
Buy what you know (things you have already)
The easiest online purchases are your good old standbys that you need to refill. Go for the lipstick replacement in your favorite color rather than trying to figure out what looks good on you from online.
Research what you don’t know
If you’re not sure about something, go check it out in the store. Maybe you can get it for a better price online, so it’s worth it to buy online, but not if it’s the wrong thing.
Research high-dollar items
If you are buying a pricey item, like a curling iron or flat iron, do a little research. Check out reviews from other sites, and make sure the price seems reasonable for what it is. If it’s a $150 flat iron and the site you’ve never heard of is selling it for $25, something may be up.
Before hitting that purchase key, do a little search on online coupons and discounts for the site. Sometimes you can find things like free shipping or 20% off; that can save you even more money.
Use a site that accepts credit cards online
Paying by credit card is a good idea in case anything goes wrong with the order. If that is your first choice, make sure your online beauty retailer will accept credit cards online.
Check return policies
Make sure you know the return policies before purchase. Can you return opened product? Is there a timeline? These things are worth knowing, especially if you’re buying products you haven’t used before.
Make sure the ingredients are what you expect. A lot of people are looking for natural beauty products, and online is a great place to find them. Take a look and make sure it’s what you are looking for.
Check your own values (no animal testing, gluten-free…)
Along those same lines, if you have other values or health needs that are important to you in beauty products, online can be where your needs are met. Make sure the product is what it claims and that your retailer is reputable in this field.
Be wary of copies and fakes of name brands
Just like with designer shoes and purses, it’s easy to find fakes out there online. Do your best to make sure what you are getting is what you want, no knockoffs or fakes. The best way to do this is with Tip #1, shop at a reputable site.
Shopping online for beauty products is an excellent time and money saver, as long as you get what you want. Do a little front-end research and you will be all set when your new products arrive.
