Be patient and persistent. Add that to the 9 diet hacks you will find below, and you have yourself a recipe for success.
Diet Hack #1 – Say No To Dieting
Traditional “diets” are temporary and quite frankly, they don’t work.
As soon as you go back to your regular eating habits, you will more than likely gain back anything you lost. In some cases you will gain back more. That’s why I never suggest going on a diet.
Instead you should focus on improving your current eating habits. You don’t have to stop eating your favorite foods, but you do need to be aware of how much you’re consuming.
Start measuring your portion sizes. You would be surprised to learn just how much you are eating.
Diet Hack #2 – Take The Slowly, But Surely Approach
When people decide they want to lose weight, they almost always head straight to the kitchen to empty out the fridge and all the cupboards.
Anything that is considered unhealthy, they throw it away. Taking this approach puts you in a mindset of deprivation.
You feel like you can’t enjoy what you eat.
As a result you don’t stick to your new plan for very long. Instead of going cold turkey, take the slowly, but surely approach. Each week you should aim to improve on your diet.
This could mean something as simple as drinking less soda, or eating more vegetables.
Diet Hack #3 – Load up On Healthy Snacks
I don’t know about you but I love to snack! Especially when I’m driving…
To avoid going over my calorie count for the day, I make it a point to have healthy snacks readily available.
The great thing about eating healthy snacks is you can consume a larger volume of food without the extra calories.
Always have a bag of grapes, oranges, carrot sticks or low fat chips on hand.
Diet Hack #4 – Drink Plenty of Water
Sodas and other sugary drinks are full of empty calories.
That means the calories in those drinks have no nutritional value. What about diet sodas you ask? Well they are just as bad. If at all possible, drink a gallon of water a day.
Your body is actually made up of about 85% water. Therefore, the more you drink, the better off you will be.
Diet Hack #5 – Take Your Lunch To Work
No more running to the nearest fast food joint during your lunch break.
Take a few minutes in the evening to prepare your lunch for the next day. Not only will this help you lose weight, but it will also save you money!
Diet Hack #6 – No More Frying
Frying your food is one of the most unhealthy things you can do.
While it may taste finger lickin’ good, it is also bad for your health. From now on bake all of your chicken and fish.
The key with baking is to use the right seasoning. This takes a bit of experimentation, but once you find the right mix, you will fall in love with baked foods. Grilling is also a great option!
Diet Hack #7 – Eat More Berries
Berries are considered one of the healthiest superfoods in the world.
This is due to the many health benefits they provide. Try to eat at least a hand full of berries everyday. This could be blackberries, blueberries, raspberries or strawberries.
You can even add them to your oatmeal or yogurt for a nice healthy treat.
Diet Hack #8 – Get Plenty of Fiber
Unless you eat beans every single day, there is a good chance you aren’t getting enough fiber in your diet.
Fiber is important as it flushes out toxins and keeps you regular. Use an app such as MyFitnessPal to track your fiber.
